John Poynton is an emeritus professor of biology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, a scientific research associate of London’s Natural History Museum, and a Scientific Fellow of the Zoological Society of London. He has published in the fields of biogeography, taxonomy, ecology, evolution, philosophy of science, and parapsychology or psychical research. He is a past president of the Society for Psychical Research.
