The Monroe Institute is a nonprofit research and education organization dedicated to the exploration of human consciousness and human potential. Founded in 1974 by Robert A. Monroe, a pioneer in the study of altered states of awareness, the Institute is best known for its development of the Monroe Sound Science audio technology and its long-standing commitment to experiential, research-informed approaches to consciousness exploration.
Over the past six decades, the Monroe Institute has supported thousands of individuals through in-person and digital programs focused on self-awareness, expanded states of consciousness, and mind–body integration. Today, the Institute continues to advance its mission through research initiatives, in-real-life experiences and retreats, and digital platforms that extend its reach globally, while maintaining a strong ethical framework grounded in curiosity, rigor, and personal agency.
