This is a special issue of the International Journal for Transformative Research. This has been created as a result of a call sent out to members of the Galileo commission inviting submissions to the journal, considering ‘the implications of a postmaterialist worldview for education and the humanities’. There was a great response; the six articles that you can read in this issue are the ones that were finally accepted for publication. It is one of our ongoing attempts to attempt to bridge the divide between the SMN and mainstream academia, in this context with education and the humanities. Professor Julian Stern, very much a mainstream academic, has just written to say it is a ‘fascinating volume’.
